HVAC Tips To Keep You Warm This Winter

Keeping warm probably means getting your pre-season tune-up. There are a few things to do before the snow starts.

Close the chimney

In case you did not know, every fireplace has a damper, a movable plate that sits above the fireplace. If you are not using a gas or wood-burning fireplace, there is no need to keep the damper open. A closed damper helps keep heated air from escaping up the chimney and prevents cool air from entering.

Start heating before it gets too cold

If you want a warm house when the cold hits, the key is to start heating it beforehand. If you wait until your home is freezing, you will probably need to use some space heaters until it is warmed up.

Change your furnace filter

Ideally, you should change the filter before the heating season begins. It will ensure proper airflow and air quality. A dirty air filter can have an impact on your health and the efficiency of your unit.

Design a shelter for your unit

Before the snow starts, you might consider building a shelter for your outdoor unit. The only thing you should cover is the fan. If the fan freezes, the system will not function properly.

For a unit to work effectively, it should be regularly maintained and cleaned. If you haven’t yet scheduled cleaning, you can call us. We are only a phone call away.
