Air Conditioning and Thunderstorm
The ideal summer temperature is imperative during hot and humid days. Thanks to AC, we enjoy all the comforts of a pleasant home atmosphere.
But, high temperatures and humidity make perfect conditions for thunderstorms.
Should I Run the Air Conditioner During a Thunderstorm?
If your AC is operating during a thunderstorm, it may damage your unit, so the best option is to shut it down until the thunderstorm passes. Luckily, humidity and temperature will drop, so you will feel relief even though your AC is off.
Turning your AC off during a thunderstorm will lower the chances of lightning strikes as well as air conditioner damage, which can make a device useless.
You can protect yourself by installing a protection system, which is still not 100% effective. That’s why we advise you to shut the AC down.
