Summer Preparation Checklist
With the summer coming quickly, it is time to start preparing your AC for the extensive use that lies ahead. On the first hot day of summer, the last thing you want is to flip the switch on your central air conditioner only to find that it does not work!
Here is how to get an air conditioner ready for summer in few simple steps!
1. Safety as a priority number one
Turn off the circuit breaker before working on your air conditioning system. Also, turn off the power to the condenser at the service panel.
2. Clean or replace the filters
Clean or replace your furnace or air-handler filters if they are clogged with dust and dirt. Not changing these filters will reduce the efficiency of your air conditioning unit. Dust filters also recirculate dust into your home, and you do not want poor air quality to make you sick!
3. Clean the condenser coils of your AC
Clean your AC condenser coils and fan of debris. A central air conditioner condenser unit is located outdoors – it is a large fan in a metal box with sides looking like grilles. Make sure the fan is free and clear of all debris.
Important note!
Doing any repairs to your central AC sealed refrigeration system is a job for the professional HVAC service pro! Also, if these steps are too complicated, or you don’t have time to do it properly, call us, and we will do it for you.
