Repair or Replace the question is now?
If your HVAC system is in trouble, it is time to ask yourself whether it’s time to buy a new one or repair the old one.
The first question that can make a difference between replacing or repairing your HVAC system is the age. If it is old enough to go to the sixth grade, be sure that it is the time to replace it.
The second question is how frequent repairs are. Two repairs in a decade is a sign of a healthy system. If that’s the case, you may consider repairing it. But if you had more then three major repairs, its time to buy a new one. Maybe at the moment‚ it will be scary and seems like a lot of work, but in the long term, it’s the right choice. The third thing is the extent of problems. It can be something minor like a clogged drain line, or some electrical problem. Something of that kind you can repair easily and fast, so you do not need to buy a new one. But if your HVAC needs more extensive repairs like changing blower motor, compressor, or condenser coils, think about replacing it.
Before you get in the position to ask yourself those questions, make sure your HVAC system is regularly cleaned, because sometimes, just a piled up dust, dirt, and debris can cause HVAC malfunctions.
