HVAC Red Flags

In this blog, we are going to discuss HVAC warning signs that indicate something is wrong with your HVAC system. We are going to focus on three major parts, such as air conditioning, furnace, and heat pump.

Air conditioning warning signs are:
(starting from the least serious to the biggest warning sign)

1. Frequent maintenance (usually mean that you have to get yourself a new system)
2. Strange odors (Dirty sock syndrome, dusty or burning smells…)
3. Age (Modern A/Cs can last from 12-15 y if your A/C is that old it’s time for a new one)
4. Sky-high energy bill (one of the best indicators something is wrong)
1. Loud noises (your HVAC is crying for reparation)

Furnace warning signs are:
(starting from the least serious to the biggest warning sign)

1. Extremely dry air (indicates that your furnace has lost the ability to add moisture to the air)
2. Age (Modern Furnaces can last from 15-20 y if your Furnace is that old it’s time for a new one)
3. Uneven heating (Some rooms are colder than the other, it’s a clear sign something is wrong)
4. Frequent maintenance (usually mean that you have to get yourself a new system)
5. the energy bill, oil, and gas costs go up

Heat pump warning signs:
(starting from the least serious to the biggest warning sign)

1. Ice developing on the unit (this problem is tricky because it could be an indicator to the more serious problem)
2. Stuck in one mod (your pump only heats or cools it’s a red flag)
3. Age (Modern heat pumps can last for about 10 y, if your heat pump is that old it’s time for a new one)
4. Unusually high energy bill
5. Strange, loud noises

As you can tell from the listed problems, two of them are standing out, and are common to all three HVAC parts. That is age, and rocket high energy bills. Pay attention to those two, and don’t forget to call your local HVAC technician since those problems are red flags that you shouldn’t neglect.
