Dirty Sock Syndrome
If you think that dirty sock syndrome is related to some fungal or yeast foot infection, you are wrong. It is related to your air conditioning unite. How so, you wonder?
Well, no matter how hard you try to keep your household tidy, some parts are hard to clean such as ducts of your a/c system. You can wash everything, scrub every corner, and still feel the sweaty laundry stench. It is a clear sign that your house has dirty laundry syndrome.
Do not worry! Usually, the syndrome is not dangerous for your health except it is annoying. Coils, pipes, and ducts are not a sterile environment, over time, dust and debris build up in them and that’s where the smell originates from. The nature of the debris depends on house activities. For example, if you have pets most of the dirt will be made of cat’s and dog’s hair.
Luckily, you can easily get rid of this unpleasant smell. There are a couple of ways to do so:
1. Change the filters more frequently
2. Call your local HVAC technician to have your ducts cleaned
3. Replace the evaporator coil
4. Seal the leakage, if there is any
